President

David R. Wunsch is the State Geologist and Director of the New Hampshire Geological Survey, which is a science support agency for New Hampshire's state government. The survey manages the state's ground water monitoring network, and provides data and information to the public in the form of geological maps, water well and water-use records, and by way of GIS data and applications.

Wunsch currently serves as the co-chair of the Water Resources Policy Committee. He also represents AASG on the National Water Quality Monitoring Council (NWQMC), and the Subcommittee on Ground Water (SOGW), both of which are under the auspices of the Federal Advisory Committee on Water Information (ACWI), which are developing a framework for monitoring the nation's surface and groundwater resources. In 1998-99 he served as the American Geological Institute's Congressional Science Fellow, where he served on Capitol Hill as an advisor to the House of Representative's Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources. As State Geologist, Dr. Wunsch has statutory appointments to the New Hampshire Joint Board of Geology, and the NH Water Well Board, which oversee the licensing and adjudicatory proceedings for professional geologists and licensed well drillers, respectively. Wunsch has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers (AGWSE), a division of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA), and as Secretary of the American Geological Institute (AGI).
